Hard to know how to put it in to words because it's hard to contain our excitement but what better way to share than just saying it. The Petrosky family is moving to Poland for a year. You know Poland the country? Located next to Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Belarus, and Lithuania.
Why would we do such a thing? Over the last year, we have been looking for an opportunity for our family within the missions field. We've prayed for direction. We've prayed for doors to open. We've talked through obstacles. We are just ordinary people. We have no collegiate biblical training but we didn't want that to be an excuse not to serve. Through a series of God orchestrated events, we've been led to a set of missionaries living in Poland that are actively seeking people willing to join their team. With the support of our church, Merriam Christian Chapel, we are preparing to move to Lubin, Poland for a one year term to join Paul and Carlene Eager (https://www.send.org/give/missionaries/eager) and their team. Paul and Carlene Eager have been in Poland since 2000 working to establish a church in Lubin and more recently Legnica. (Map of Lubin and Legnica) A language school has been established to teach English as a second language in both cities. This school has provided the team there many opportunities to partner with the local schools and the community and to build relationships. We will join the teaching staff at the school and explore the opportunities that arise once we arrive.
When? God's timing is perfect and while it is our goal to get there as soon as possible, no date has yet been set. Our goal is to have a large portion of our support raised before we depart. We are excited that our church is taking on a portion of our support and we are looking for God's provision in getting the remaining amount pledged or donated prior to our departure.
Please pray with us and for us as we:
- Seek out more individual and church partnerships.
- Finalize plans for a survey trip in May to Poland with our pastor and his wife.
- Seek out someone to occupy our home while we are gone for one year.
- Anticipate the unknowns and complications. We know there will be obstacles but we pray for God to guide and shield us from those things we cannot plan for.
